Course Information
During this First Aid for Babies and Children course, you will learn and practise the essential skills needed to provide first aid to babies and children. The course also covers paediatric resuscitation and the use of an AED. You will learn how to move a child to safety, assess their condition and contact the emergency services.
Under the guidance of a certified Red Cross instructor, you will practise responding to situations such as choking, drowning, unconsciousness, cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, burns, poisoning, allergic reactions, febrile seizures and injuries to the head, neck, spine, teeth, eyes and musculoskeletal system. You will also learn how to treat common injuries, including cuts, grazes, nosebleeds and trapped fingers.
After successfully completing the course, you will receive an IKK-approved Red Cross First Aid certificate. The certificate is valid for two years and can be renewed by completing a refresher course. You will also retain access to the online learning module for one year after completing the course.
